The Grand Hotel - Heritage Grand

fantastic colonial hotel with lots of English traditions. ground were immaculate and service was very good. the room was comfortable and it was lovely to find a chocolate birthday cake for my mums celebrations. the Thai restaurant was delicious - would recommend for an evening meal. breakfast buffet had plenty of choice.

Beautiful traditional building with the best High Tea ever! The gardens where amazing! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. No request was too difficult. Very patient. Bar staff were EXCELLENT at making cocktails. Great prices for cocktails. Excellent local tours including an unexpected impromptu guided tour around the township where unexpected hidden jewels were found.

This is a magnificent heritage hotel. The interior was superb, lots of helpful staff. We enjoyed sitting near the wooden fireplace. There was a live music every evening, which was nice to hear. However, it’s an old hotel, so better ask for a quiet room in advance. Good heater in the room, as well as a bath with hot water, so don’t worry about freezing:) Great location in the center of Nuwara Eliya near the Queen Victoria park. Free parking available. We enjoyed playing snooker, which is located near the heritage bar. The room with billiard is heritage itself with a 19th century tables and decors. Great place to learn playing with a great snooker master. There are several dining options in the hotel. We loved Grand Indian with delicious food and very friendly service.

We only stayed here for one night, which wasn't long enough to fully explore all the hotel's facilities, but what we did experience was first class. Our rooms were stylish, and the public areas very grand. We enjoyed our dinner at the Grand Thai, and the breakfast buffet was exceptional. Yes, it felt very different from the usual warm exuberance of other Sri Lankan hotels, but the staff were still friendly when you interacted with them, and the service was impeccable. A member of staff approached my father when he was looking at the old photos of the hotel, and when he heard that my parents had been to a dance at the hotel on their honeymoon in the 1960s, he took the time to show us the ballroom, which my father really appreciated. Another member of staff opened up the gift shop and then the jewellery shop for me, so that I could have a look around, patiently waiting and showing me everything she had.
